LGBT Equity Programs:
Rainbow Terrapin Network
o The RTN
enhances support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and
questioning people, and their allies on campus. Participants receive training
on how to be effective in providing support for LGBT people, an opportunity to
show commitment to this vital element of diversity, connection to
others who are engaged in this work, and ongoing support in standing
against anti-LGBT attitudes and heterosexism.
o You can
sign up for the trainings here! The
first and second trainings are on Wednesday,
February 6th from 4-7PM and Friday, February 15th from
1-4PM, respectively.
o There
are 8 trainings so find one that fits your schedule and join the Network!
!NEW! Trans* Advocacy Trainings
o The
Equity Center is now offering at training on trans* issues and how to be a
better ally and advocate for trans* communities.
o So far
there will be two this semester: Thursday,
February 28th 9:30AM-12:30PM and Wednesday, April 3rd
4-7PM.
o This is
a great opportunity to extend your training if you’ve already completed a
Rainbow Terrapin Network training J

Debilitating Queerness: The Sixth Annual DC Queer Studies
Symposium and Lecture Series
o UMD’s
LGBT Studies program along with American University, Georgetown University, and
the George Washington University present the 6th Annual DC Queer
Studies Symposium and Lecture series: Debilitating Queerness. All events are
free and open to the public!
o Come to
the kick off event, Robert McRuer’s lecture “Queer Austerity and Excess:
Cripping the Crisis; or, the Rise of Disability Capitalism” on Thursday, February 7th at 5PM
in Ulrich Recital Hall in Tawes Hall.

Delta Lambda Phi
o Delta
Lambda Phi is an
international fraternity for gay men that was founded in Washington, DC in
1986. Here in Washington, the Alpha chapter continues to operate in a
multi-campus format, including several brothers at the University of Maryland
at College Park.
o DLP is
approaching their Spring recruitment period and would love to hear from people
interested in joining. For more information visit their website or

Queer Monologues
o The
Queer Monologues seeks to share the experiences of UMD's LGBTQQIA
community, promote awareness and inclusivity, and make University of Maryland a
more welcoming environment overall through storytelling. The performances,
which have reflected upon triumph and struggle, humor and heartache, reveal a
diverse glimpse of what the queer community experiences.
o This
year, Queer Monologues will take place on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 7:00p.m. in
the Hoff Theater of the Stamp Student Union. If you would like to write for
Queer Monologues, please fill out a submission form here
by March 3, 2013.
o Finally,
if you would like to be more involved in The Queer Monologues, starting this
week, Wednesday, 2/6/13, we will have TQM interest/planning
meetings every Wed from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the MICA
Office on the 1st Floor (with Testudo on it).
Internships with Community Access National Network
o Community
Access National Network is a non-profit that advocates for the care and
treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C
o CANN is
launching a global anti-stigma campaign called Rise Up To HIV that promotes “No
Shame About Being HIV Positive” and is looking for interns. There are also
internships available for an upcoming Hepatitis C project that has just
launched.
